It does not count their children born in Australia, so the community is larger than this number.Speak Sinhalese at home counts people of any birthplace. Many people born in Sri Lanka speak Tamil or English at home instead, so the Sinhalese count does not cover the whole community. Tamil is not shown because it is also spoken at home by many people born in India and elsewhere.These are 2021 Census figures, now five years old. The community has likely grown since; we do not show growth because no newer count exists at this level. The ABS slightly adjusts small counts to protect privacy, so treat small numbers as approximate. Areas with fewer than 100 people born in Sri Lanka are not listed.
